A Taste of Greece in Spokane! The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, on Washington Street in Spokane, welcomes members of Spokane and surrounding communities to celebrate almost nine decades of authentic Greek food, music, dancing, culture, and parea (Greek for "a joyfully connected group of friends" or "tribe").
"Every year I am blown away by the support and generosity of the Spokane community," says Rev. Fr. Daniel Triant, head priest at Holy Trinity. "We're seeing record numbers every year, and we're so honored to continue to serve and educate. The comment I hear most often is, 'I've always wanted to see inside that building!' Well, here's your chance."
Food and hospitality are highly valued in Greek heritage, and this year's menu includes plenty of Greek Fest staples, like stuffed-to-the-brim gyros, dripping-with-honey loukoumades (Greek fried dough balls) and fresh, baked-by-hand baklava. This year will also feature the most recent addition to the Fest menu, pastitsio, a hearty dish of ground beef and tube pasta.
"There's something for everyone," Rev. Fr. Daniel continues. "Whether you're stopping in on your lunch break for a gyro and a strong Greek coffee or bringing the whole family for an evening experience of a meal and dancing, we welcome you. I can't put into words what it means for our parish to be able to share our deep faith and cultural roots with the Spokane community, whether you've been joining us for decades or it's your first time experiencing this time-honored tradition. To show our appreciation and give back, we're donating a portion of this year's festival proceeds to local charity Caritas Outreach Ministries."
Our beloved dance group, the Opa Dancers, continues to grow and this year we will feature brand new costumes from Greece. Increased seating in our courtyard means everyone will get a chance to sit, relax, and, if so inspired, get up and join us!
